A student-led proposal for Indian schools

India has spent decades teaching girls to be careful.
It has taught boys almost nothing. This is a proposal for a national framework on consent education, independent reporting and institutional accountability in schools.

Why this exists

Every girl we know performs the same calculation without thinking about it.

That calculation costs something every single day, and we have accepted it as the price of being female in this country. The purpose of this work is not to make girls better at the arithmetic. It is to make it unnecessary — by changing what boys understand about their own behaviour, and by making schools answer for how they respond when something goes wrong.

  • Which street?

  • Which hour?

  • How far to the next lit shop

  • Which route?

  • Who is behind me?

A fifteen-year-old should not have to become a legal expert in order to be protected by a statute written for her.

India is not short of law. The POCSO Act exists. Section 21 already makes institutional silence a criminal offence. The gap is not legislative — it is that schools frequently do not know what the law requires of them, and that nothing independent checks whether they comply.
